You have hit on a huge problem with whole systems research that illustrates some of the issues holistic medical practitioners have to try to reason with. It is time for the biological sciences to catch up with the tools of quantum physics and chaos math. Clearly we have known for decades that the problems in medicine are nonlinear, but the research methods that are used and accepted are not keeping pace.
